Trauma therapy — A path toward healing

Your past is getting in the way of your present

  • You’re anxious, on alert, and feel unsafe even when you’re not in danger

  • You’re in your head a lot, and feel disconnected from your body and your emotions

  • You feel like something is wrong with you

  • You have difficulty trusting others, and maintaining close, connected relationships

  • You don’t enjoy the things that used to bring you satisfaction

Are you tired of carrying the weight of your past?

  • You wish that you could feel more grounded and relaxed

  • You want to understand yourself better, to feel more connected to who you are

  • You dream about having close, connected relationships but it feels so hard

  • You want to enjoy life, take risks and connect with a greater sense of purpose

“This is a moment of suffering. May I be kind to myself in this moment.” –

Are you ready to move forward?

I am here to help

I often hear people who have experienced trauma say..

  • “It wasn’t that bad. Other people had it worse”

  • “I don’t understand why it still affects me. I wish that it didn’t anymore.”

  • “I feel like I don’t know myself”

My Approach

We’ll work together to explore and identify the painful experiences in your life that have an impact on how you feel today. I use EMDR therapy to allow you to process through these events in a safe and supported way. With EMDR, we are able to access parts of the brain that we don’t always get to in traditional talk therapy. EMDR is helpful in removing the emotional charge associated with traumatic experiences so that they no longer have the hold over you that you’re used to.

Through the process, I’ll support you on the path to self-understanding, self-acceptance, and self-compassion.

My approach is collaborative. I trust you as the expert of your story, and I’m here to guide you in uncovering your own internal resources and developing them from the inside out. I believe that when you know and accept yourself, meaningful change will occur.

Therapy for Trauma provides..

  • A non-judgmental and welcoming space to talk about what happened

  • An opportunity to gain a better understanding of how past experiences may be impacting your present experience

  • A method and support for processing painful or distressing life events to lessen their impact on your life

  • Dedicated time to learn and implement healthy coping tools

  • An opportunity to develop a new relationship with yourself, rooted in self-compassion

Therapy Modalities

ACT

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you develop the skills to make room for life's inevitable challenges while staying connected to what matters most.

EMDR

EMDR is an evidence-based treatment that helps your brain process distressing experiences so that they become less overwhelming and lose their emotional charge.

Self-compassion-focused therapy helps you quiet your inner critic, respond to yourself with greater kindness, and learn to respond to your emotions without being hard on yourself.
