EMDR therapy in Arizona, Massachusetts and Ohio
Find relief from painful life experiences with EMDR.
Painful life events can continue to have an impact long after they are over.
You might notice these experiences showing up in the form of anxiety, self-doubt, overwhelming emotions, or unhelpful patterns in your life. Even though the past is behind you, sometimes your mind and body continue to respond as if what happened then is happening now. Living this way can feel exhausting.
You may find yourself wondering if what happened in the past even still matters. You have likely spent time trying to make sense of your experiences, pushing difficult memories away, or talking through them in therapy, only to find yourself continuing to feel stuck.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is one of the most extensively researched psychotherapy interventions. It is an evidence-based treatment that helps your brain process distressing experiences so that they become less overwhelming and lose their emotional charge. As painful memories become less heavy for you to carry, you will gain a sense of lightness and an ability to respond to the present with more calm and ease.
What Happens During EMDR Therapy?
EMDR follows a structured eight phase model:
We start with history taking so that I can gain a comprehensive understanding of your past experiences and current concerns. We set personalized goals, build coping tools and resources to ensure you feel grounded and prepared.
Once you and I are both confident that you are ready, we will move into reprocessing the painful life events that are contributing to your current emotional state. Throughout the process, I will provide guidance and support, keeping your emotional safety as my top priority.
Lastly, we’ll work on integrating your new emotions and experiences.

Yes! Many clients enjoy doing EMDR from the comfort of their own homes. I use a virtual program called bilateralstimulation.io that allows you to engage in visual bilateral stimulation on your computer screen.
