EMDR treatment to help you heal.
Painful life experiences can continue to have an impact long after they are over.
You might be experiencing anxiety, self-doubt, overwhelming emotions, or unhelpful patterns in your life. Even though the experience is over, sometimes your mind and body continue to respond as if what happened then is happening now. Living this way can feel exhausting.
You may question if what happened in the past even still matters. Maybe you have spent time trying to understand your experiences, pushing difficult memories away, or talking through them with a friend or in therapy, only to find yourself continuing to feel stuck.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is one of the most extensively researched psychotherapy interventions. It helps your brain process distressing experiences so that they become less overwhelming and lose their emotional charge. As painful memories become less heavy for you to carry, you will gain a sense of lightness and an ability to live with more calm and ease.
How does EMDR Therapy work?
EMDR follows a structured eight phase protocol:
We begin with history taking so that I can gain a comprehensive understanding of your past experiences and current concerns. We then set personalized goals, and work on building coping tools and resources to ensure you feel grounded and prepared for processing.
Once you and I are both confident that you are ready, we will move into reprocessing the painful life experiences that are contributing to your current emotional state. Throughout the process, I will provide guidance and support, keeping your emotional safety as my top priority.
Finally, we’ll work on integrating your new emotions and experiences.

EMDR follows a structured 8 phase model. It starts with history taking, building resources and coping tools. During the processing phase, distressing events are processed with sets of bilateral stimulation (via eye movements or tapping). Processing continues until your experience feels significantly less emotionally charged.

Many clients enjoy doing EMDR from the comfort of their own homes. I use a HIPAA-compliant program for telehealth and a virtual program called bilateralstimulation.io that allows you to engage in visual bilateral stimulation on your computer screen.
